Sargeant Park is a beautiful, passive park with more than two miles of natural hiking trails and several branches of Covert Run creek running through it. The park also has a shelter and restrooms in a bucolic, wooded setting. In recent years, volunteers have made many improvements to the park, including removing chain-link fencing, planting hundreds of new trees, removing invasive species, and building the trails in the park.

The city also has undertaken several recent improvements to the park, including repairing the parking lot at 999 Covert Run Pike, installing new wooden fences on Covert Run and Lincoln Road, removing dead trees, and making sanitary and stormwater infrastructure improvements to the park’s facilities.

The park is available to Dayton residents and others for family gatherings, receptions, school events, and other events. To reserve an event, contact the city clerk at 859-491-1600 or dleger@daytongky.com.  The cost to reserve the park is $125. This fee is returnable upon cancellation of the reservation if the cancellation is more than 14 days before the date for which the park is reserved. Of this amount, $25 will be returned to the person who makes the reservation if the park facilities are returned in good condition.
