The office of the City Clerk is located in the Dayton City Building (Get directions). Open records requests, permit applications, and tax payments can be made at this office. The City Clerk also prepares the agenda and minutes for all meetings of the City Council. Office hours for the City Clerk are 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Duties of the City Clerk/Treasurer
All cities, except those of the first class, are required to establish the office of the city clerk by KRS 83A.085.
The duties and responsibilities of the clerk shall include but not be limited to the following:
Maintenance and safekeeping of the permanent records of the city;
Performance of the duties required of the “official custodian” or “custodian” in accordance with KRS 61.870 to 61.882;
Possession of the seal of the city if used;
No later than January 31 of each year, mail or electronically submit to the Department for Local Government a list containing current city information.
Performance of all other duties and responsibilities required of the city clerk by statute or ordinance.
