The Tharp Dayton Heritage Museum preserves and exhibits the rich history of City Dayton in a storefront museum in the heart of the city’s Central Business District.
The museum’s name commemorates Charlie Tharp, a local businessman and historian who during his 52 years in business in Dayton collected a vast archive of Dayton historical artifacts, documents, and photographs, dating back to when the first settlers arrived in 1779. The museum is run by a three-person board appointed by the mayor.
