City of Dayton garbage pick-up and recycling services
Effective July 1, 2025, the City of Dayton will switch to Rumpke Waste & Recycling to provide these services to residents
New Trash, Recycling Service Provider Effective July 1, 2025
The City of Dayton, Ky., is partnering with Rumpke Waste & Recycling to provide residents with weekly trash and recycling collection. Recycling is now collected the same day as trash. Please see map below for collection days.
Carts
Rumpke is providing all households with a 95-gallon brown trash cart and a 65-gallon green recycling cart.* Trash should be bagged and placed in the brown trash cart. Recycling should be placed loose in the green cart.
Residents are encouraged to use Rumpke trash carts for collection. Recycling must be placed in Rumpke recycling carts for collection. If you would like Rumpke to remove your old cart from the previous service provider, please call 1-800-828-8171 or email service.cin@rumpke.com.
Carts should be placed at the curb the night before scheduled collection.
*Smaller carts are available upon request after July 2025. Contact Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171 to request.
Large Items
Residents can place one large item per week at the curb on collection day (furniture, appliances, etc.) Please contact Rumpke at least 48-business hours in advance to alert of the large item collection and review preparation guidelines.
- Mattresses, box springs, and upholstered furniture must be wrapped and sealed in plastic prior to collection.
- Carpets must be rolled and tied in sections no longer than 4 feet and weighing no more than 50 pounds.

Curbside Guidelines
- According to federal law, Rumpke is not permitted to accept batteries, tires, liquids, combustible materials or any items identified as hazardous. Visit www.nkyhhw.org for disposal options.
- Bulky materials, including drywall, concrete, bricks, dirt, or rocks are not acceptable curbside. Please contact Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171 for disposal options.
- Loose shrubbery or lumber must be bundled and tied in lengths no larger than 5 feet in length. Bundles should not exceed 50 pounds.

Recycling
Rumpke accepts a wide variety of common household items. Items should be empty, clean, and placed in Rumpke recycling containers loose (unless specified otherwise). Learn more here: https://www.rumpke.com/residential/recycling-services/acceptable-items
Hefty ReNew

Rumpke will deliver new trash and recycling carts to all Dayton residents starting the week of June 23. Each resident will receive a 95-gallon brown trash cart and a 65-gallon green recycling cart. After the initial delivery period, residents may request smaller carts by contacting Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171. Residents can also request Rumpke to remove old carts from the previous service provider.
Rumpke service begins July 1, 2025. Rumpke will follow the same trash collection days as Republic. Please note that Rumpke will collect recycling weekly on the same day as trash.
