Kentucky Department of Education has recognized the Dayton Independent School District as a “Distinguished School District,” the state’s highest rating.
The staff of Dayton Independent Schools — in partnership with the parents and community — guide all students in the school system in a safe and stimulating environment to develop realistic visions and goals. The mission of the school district is to Inspire, Engage, and Grow each of its students.
The school district operates the following schools and programs:

The school district has a population of nearly 1,000 students (preschool through 12th grade). The Dayton Middle/High School Building houses approximately 350 students in grades 7 through 12. Lincoln Elementary School operates a preschool through sixth grade in a separate building with approximately 650 students.
