Thomas Hawks
Officer Hawks came back to Dayton PD from the Pendleton County Sheriff’s Office; Officer Hawks worked in Dayton back in 2005. Officer Hawks has 15 years of experience as a Kentucky Certified Police Officer; 6 of those years with Dayton PD. Officer Hawks went to High school at John T. Hoggard in Wilmington, North Carolina; and attended college at the University of Cincinnati. Officer Hawks is currently our firearms instructor and currently serves as one of our training officers. Thomas’s experience and knowledge is a great asset to our police department and were glad to have him back.
Anthony Keene
Officer Keene came to Dayton Police Department from Falmouth PD and has 3 years of experience as a Kentucky Certified Police Officer. Officer Keene is new to the police department and has already made a great impact. Tony went to high school at Scott high school and attended college at Murray State where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. We can’t wait to see what great things Tony will do for Dayton PD and our community.
Jeffrey Linkugel
Officer Jeffrey Linkugel came to the Dayton Police Department from the Cold Spring Police Department. Jeffrey has over 4 years’ experience as a Kentucky Certified Police Officer; almost 2 years with Dayton PD and is a 2nd generation Dayton Police Officer. Jeffrey graduated from Scott High School and then graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Eastern Kentucky University with a 4.0 GPA. Jeffrey has just completed his master’s degree at Xavier University in Criminal Justice Administration. Jeffrey was the D.A.R.E officer at Cold Spring because of his positive attitude and his ability to communicate well within the community. Jeffrey continues to put on community events and is Dayton Pd’s Community relations officer Jeffery is fair and respectful when dealing with citizens and will bring those characteristics with him to the Dayton Police Department.
Jacob Mangan
Officer Mangan came to the Dayton Police Department from Falmouth Police Department and has 5 years of experience as a Kentucky Certified Police Officer; 4 of those years at Dayton PD. Jacob went to high school at Walton Verona and college at Eastern Kentucky University. Jacob did ROTC in college but instead of enlisting in the military he became a police officer instead. Jacob is quickly taken to the job and has made a huge difference in keeping our community safe. Dayton police and the community are glad to have him, and we are thankful for your continued efforts.
Gilbert Marksberry
Officer Marksberry is a Retired – Rehired officer with 24 years of Police experience as a Kentucky Certified Police Officer. Gill retired from Dayton Police in 2021; he has also worked at Campbell County Police and Kentucky ABC. Officer Marksberry is a graduate Holmes High School; and is our K-9 officer of Kai. K9 Kai is a black and brown, 81lb., very athletic, 3-year old Belgian Malinois. Kai was born on February 9, 2019 in North Carolina, and then traveled to Kentucky, where a generous family donated him to Officer Marksberry and his family who, in turn, offered his services to the city of Dayton and surrounding communities to help keep them safe. Kai, became certified in narcotics in March 2021, and is expected to complete certifications in tracking and patrol very soon. Kai absolutely loves working. He has high energy and shows off his athleticism by jumping 8ft or higher with little effort. Kai spends his free time showing off to former K9 Officer Tesa, who retired in 2020. We are Happy to have Gill back with us to continue his great presence in our community.
Brett Wiley
Officer Brett Wiley came back to the Dayton Police Department after 6 years working for DynCopr International doing security in Afghanistan and acting Company Commander in the Ohio National Guard. Brett work for Dayton PD from 2001 to 2009, then Silver Grove PD 2009 to 2011. While at Dayton, Brett served as a Field Training Officer, Corporal, and Taser instructor. Brett has over 11 years’ experience as a Kentucky Certified Police Officer. Brett went to high school at Thomas Worthington high school in Worthington, Ohio. Brett currently carries secret clearance from the Department of Defense and is also a life member of the Special Forces Association. We are glad to have Brett back with greater experience to continue to serve the citizens of Dayton.
Mark Wilke
Officer Mark Wilke came to the Dayton Police Department from Falmouth Police with almost 18 years of experience as a Kentucky Certified Police Officer. Mark currently serves as Sergeant and is in charge of all drug investigations. Mark has also worked for departments such as Campbell County Police, Highland Heights Police and Pendleton County Sheriff Department. While at Campbell County PD, Mark was Officer of the Year for 2015; was LGBTQ liaison with Northern Kentucky University while serving at Highland Heights PD. Mark has served in the capacity as a field training officer, Sergeant, and an agent in the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force during his career. Mark was Honorable Discharged after 4 years in the United States Air Force stationed at Wright Patterson AFB and was part of the 88th Security Forces Squadron. Mark is a local who graduated from Newport Central Catholic and Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Northern Kentucky University. Mark’s experience is a great addition to the Dayton Police Department and to the Dayton community.
