PUBLIC NOTICE: During the August 2024 Council Meeting, the City Council passed Ordinance 2024-11, an ordinance regarding the removal of animal excrement in the City of Dayton. This is in response to the numerous complaints about animal waste being present in public parks and greenways.
Here’s what to know:
  • Every pet owner is responsible for their animal and its waste. All owners must remove and dispose of animal waste immediately in a public or private waste receptacle.
  • The ordinance allows members of city staff to enforce this ordinance with the power to write a citation to the violator.
  • The fee for being in violation of this ordinance is $100 for the first offense and $250 for every violation thereafter.
How to comply:
  • The City of Dayton is now selling dog waste bag rolls for 50 cents per roll. You can purchase anytime during our business hours. (Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Thanks for keeping our city clean!
